Yeah I myself assume a dropsuit command respec is probably coming, since they did a vehicle command respec in 1.7.
That said, I still don't understand why they want to drive players away every month by disallowing respecs during beta phase.
What's that it's not in beta phase? No, I'm pretty sure it is. You can call a black kettle grey but its still a black kettle.
Likewise, just because Sony told them they couldn't call it beta anymore doesn't stop it from being beta. |

CCP is changing every suit in the game, adding a few more, and changing weapons and equipment. No respec = loss of a lot of players from the already small playerbase. Agreed. With this size and this level of changes it would be prudent for CCP to at least reimburse dropsuit tree skillpoints. Yes definitely, the game is gonna change so much that the weapons and suits I skilled into will be totally different War is totally different. Take what CCP does with your SP investment and work with it. You didn't see Jim Morrison asking for a re-do after that whole bathtub incident, did you? And Jim Morrison was a STAR!

I get what they are trying to do, I just feel like they are basically say, "We are trying to make this game fail by refusing to understand the console fps market and try to compare it to the PC niche mmo market that is eve." If someone else made a competent space mmo eve would be in trouble given their general HTFU attitude with their fans.
All I generally here about CCP tells me they think as long as they keep jamming square pegs into circular holes, eventually it should fit. Which pretty much sums up their current success rate with producing games other than eve. |

I must say 1.8 is looking out to be the best patch ever, as long as there's no major bugs along with it. Nope. There is clearly an internal discussion within CCP about the merits of any kind of sp respec, and personally I see the latest round of sp bonus weeks as the workaround to this issue: don't refund the sp, just shower is with massive amounts of bonus sp so that we can all play with the new toys come patch day. At most, well get a suit respec. But I don't think that's a given, either. Yes but the sp event we just had would be too far away from 1.8 release. So in my opinion unless they have another one, the last sp event we had is just too far away from the 1.8 release date. I already spent my sp because I am confident we will get a respec. The main point to me is if they don't give a respec lots of people have said they're gonna leave, plus they would be missing out on an opportunity to bring back old players. The only thing that will bring back and keep old players is content. Refunded SP is about a six week bandaid. A full line up of suits and weapons will do more for the game than any refunded SP will. Good games keep players not how often one can respecialize. We need content not respecs. You want to bring back players and make the active players happy? Add all suits and weapons, player trading/market and PVE. A full line of vehicles from every race will help but the first three are the most important. Yet adding in that backlogged content without refunding SP will only serve to further push players away
Exactly, to quote a guy talking about extra credits earlier, there is plenty of market evidence that nickel and diming players causes backlash and usually kills a game launch or forces the devs to back pedal and make up for it.
Right now CCP is in the stage of either back pedaling on no sp refunds or packing up and accepting another failed game/free up their servers. Only the most moronic would pay out aurum to get what they want after having put 8 months into the game. Yes, CCP has every right to do what they want, but the consumer has every right to call them out on the bullshit and pick up any thousands of other games to play.
Last time they gave out an sp reset was when they "left beta", seeing as how they never left beta and have made changes since then across the board jerking the players that have remained around every month after promising a released product, they are playing with fire.
Like I've said before this game is literally free to play and where fps games are king on consoles, the vast majority of ps3 players won't touch this game. I haven't found favorable reviews when I can find any at all. The most favorable are "It's got potential but CCP has pulled a Peter Molyneux, promised us the world and gave us a 9'x9' room. |

Yeah but the thing is the people who do follow the FoTM will be boned come next update as their is a long history of CCP nerfing the FoTM IE, the overpowered dominant strategy.
It's been about 8 months since a respec, honestly I feel until CCP moves out of beta and keeps tweaking core mechanics, resets should come every now and then.
Respecs should stop once the core is actually finished and the only thing they are working on is expanded gameplay.
Tweaking of skill trees/suits, weapons, and vehicles falls under core mechanics. Most RPG online games even the f2p models give their playerbases respecs anytime they screw around with what people spent months to years grinding on. |
